Good news in Coulsdon : Spring 2024
We are pleased to let you know that Fine Toad’s purchase of premises in Coulsdon town centre is progressing, albeit slowly, which will enable us to support one of our High Street businesses expanding and give us the opportunity to offer co-working/desk and office space plus, we hope, more…by way of meeting room/workshop/classroom space as well.
It has been confirmed that Croydon Council are keeping our 1 hour free parking in Coulsdon Town Centre, with a proposed extension so you can add a further hour’s paid parking.
The NHS have been accepted to purchase the Council car park off Chipstead Valley Road to create a new medical facility. This was part of the CALAT site off Malcolm Road that has been underused due to the narrow entrance off Chipstead Valley Road in Coulsdon town centre.
The changes to Croydon Libraries proposes Coulsdon Library to be open five to six days a week, including Saturdays, and to deliver an extensive offer of books, wifi, PCs, study spaces and events. Future investment in the 6 sites proposed are recommended to improve the facilities and extend the opening times and services available. Unfortunately, the plans also propose the closure of Bradmore Green Library in Old Coulsdon which is being opposed by users and local residents.
In the meantime, Wendy and Eleanor via Coulsdon Community Partnership have been providing funding to local groups and supporting the organisation of the Easter Market on Sat 30th March on Brighton Road and The Hive, community garden behind Coulsdon Library that will host the Easter Bunny on the Easter Trail on that day, Sat 30th March. The Hive will start opening to the public for all to enjoy in April (see poster below). Please continue to support and use our town centre more, we have some new businesses open and opening. Maybe get a book out or grab a drink or snack from a local cafe or restaurant and sit and enjoy some time away from the traffic in this wonderful space, right in Coulsdon town centre.
Further updates will follow on Fine Toad’s office space, when we can tell you more!
